I did this project for my 1-month Internship at Lollypop UI/UX Studio (Bangalore, India). This internship was remote and O where I had to work on this project individually under the guidance of my mentors - Walter Cardoz and Rohan Kataria.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

This is a hypothetical company, named as QuickFit by me. QuickFit is an American company that provides ready to eat food which is 100% organic, preservations free, no artificial flavors. The USP of QuickFit is that this food is made by the top chefs in the world which makes it extremely tasty and is healthy which makes it perfect for fitness enthusiasts.

GOAL:

Primary Goal:

To help QuickFit build a platform for the Indian audience that helps them to stay fit and eat healthy by offering them ready to eat meals cooked by the best chefs in the world.

Secondary Goal:

Educate and spread awareness to users on the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle.

  • The demand for online food delivery services has increased significantly due to COVID-19 (Source: Imarcgroup)

  • The Government of India has relaxed foreign direct investment (FDI) norms for the sector, allowing up to 100 percent FDI in food product e-commerce (Source: IBEF)

  • 81% of Indian consumers order food through delivery apps as per a survey (Source: TOI)

Interview- Takeaways

  • Most users did not have much knowledge about healthy food but were interested in eating healthy

  • People when hungry go for anything easily available

  • People put taste first

  • Nearby restaurants are also a popular choice

  • Everyone eats instant food like maggie

  • Users used mobile apps to order 90% of the time

  • People don’t want to spend more than 30 minutes in the kitchen

  • Users believe in word of mouth a lot

  • Some users are excited with the concept of QuickFit and are willing to pay extra for healthy food

Cognitive Task- Background

Mental models are beliefs that we consciously or unconsciously form from our experiences, which in turn guide our thoughts and actions. 

An understanding of the mental models of users can be used to structure the app in such a way that is intuitive and effortless.

Cognitive Task- Findings

  • Users get confused with terminology not popular in India like “Zip”

  • Users didn’t want to sign up first

  • Users had a hard time figuring out what the app offered

  • Users did not favor subscription 

  • Users liked having FAQ which they could read to understand more about the brand

  • Users used features like filter, sort and most popular to select a meal

  • Users wanted to have coupon code suggestions

  • Users wanted more payment options

  • Users looked for information that would help them trust the brand like reviews, ratings, licenses 

  • Users had a hard time understanding the icons used for keto, etc

  • Adding sort options for carbs, fats

  • Found the flow easy to use and intuitive

  • Found the concept better than anything else

  • Thought the price was a little high

BUSINESS / MARKET STRATEGY :

BASIC PLAN:

Evolution of Target Audience:

  • Initially target audience = upper middle class, higher strata of the society,  fitness freaks  

  • Future target audience = someone who wants to eat healthy food and even if not that great financially is willing to invest in their health

Target Locations:

  • Initially, target locations will be Tier 1 cities - Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi (interviewed people) especially because they are IT hubs

  • Later Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities

Tie-Ups:

  • ​Tie-Ups with local gyms, nutritionists, influencers, fitness instructors taking personal classes and dieticians

Resource Allocation:

  • Most of the company’s Manpower, Time, Money would be spent on 

    • Adapting your company to the Indian taste 

    • Maintaining our food quality

    • Training and hiring chefs

    • Getting space in those areas

    • Maintaining high-quality ingredients

    • Raw materials - from farmers directly

  • Focus on Marketing will be secondary because of more value given to Word of Mouth, especially since we are targeting Tier 1 cities

  • Later when we target Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities investment will be done in 

  • Paid Ads, Billboards
